There’s no strict formula, but thinking about chapters helps you shape the story of your set, no matter how long or what genre you’re playing.

Here’s a rough guide:
Short sets (30–60 min)
  • ~3–4 chapters
  • Example:
    • Warm-up
    • Momentum
    • Peak
    • Close
Focus on a clear, punchy journey with no dead moments.
Club sets (1–3 hours)
  • ~4–6 chapters
  • Example:
    • Warm-up
    • Momentum
    • Peak 1
    • Breakdown
    • Peak 2
    • Close
You have room to stretch out, surprise the crowd, and play with energy waves.
Marathon sets (4+ hours)
  • 6+ chapters (including backups)
  • Example:
    • Warm-up
    • Momentum
    • Peak 1
    • Reset
    • Momentum 2
    • Peak 2
    • Breakdown
    • Close
    • Backup Emergency chapters
You’ll need backups and alternate routes because over long hours, the vibe can shift, the crowd can change, and you’ll want options.
